The resourceful city of Frisco, Texas provides our residents and visitors with a multitude of cultural enrichment and memorable experiences. For example, Frisco Square will offer its Music In The Square promotion on the Simpson Plaza Lawn in front of City Hall every Friday night this June from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is absolutely free.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy summertime evenings on the lawn. Bring your friends and/or the entire family, enjoy a picnic dinner, unfold the lawn chairs and/or blankets, and listen to some outstanding music provided by some of the area’s up and coming bands.
The 2016 lineup commences on June 3 with Mix Tape, a six-member north Texas band that began in 2011 and plays a unique list of songs from the 1970’s, as well as contemporary rock, pop and alternative music. The band’s mantra is “No to the Bee Gees….Yes to the Black Keys.”
One of Frisco’s newest up-and-coming bands, Local Yoakam, will provide the entertainment on June 10. This four-year old group got its start as a Dwight Yoakam cover band, and has expanded its offerings to include additional selections that are influenced by George Straight, Ray Price and the Texas Tornadoes. Band founder Rodney Smith has amassed an impressive collection of talented musicians to provide a very unique and popular sound.
On June 17, one of the Dallas area’s most popular bands, Moving Colors will perform a wide variety of music, including some handstand, bucket and trash can routines as part of a fun-filled routine.
The promotion finishes with a flourish on June 24 when Blue Hat brings together five musicians of different backgrounds and genres. The D/FW area band will surprise and entertain with a variety of pop, rock and jazy country songs and talents that are truly unique.
